Always… Patsy Cline
Created and Originally Directed by Ted Swindley | Directed by Adam P. Blais
Music Direction by Courtney Babbidge

This heartfelt celebration, full of emotion and down-home country humor, is sure to leave you tapping your toes to songs you know and love! Featuring hits such as “Walkin’ After Midnight,” “I Fall to Pieces,” and “Crazy,” Always… Patsy Cline is based on the true story of Cline’s friendship with her biggest fan, Louise Seger. After Cline’s tragic and untimely death, Louise reminisces on their happenstance friendship, her love for the singer, and the letters they wrote one another over the years, which Patsy consistently signed “Love Always…Patsy Cline”.

From the Director

On Monday, January 21, 1957, a young singer by the name of Patsy Cline made her national television debut on Arthur Godfrey’s Talent Scout, a long running competitive radio and television variety show. Wearing a western-style outfit that was sewn by her mother and pseudo manager, Hilda Hensley, Patsy Cline mesmerized audiences with her soulful rendition of the country classic “Walkin’ After Midnight” garnering the loudest measured audience response (in fact the audience reaction froze the applause meter) and winning the evening.

Following her performance on Arthur Godfrey, “Walkin’ After Midnight” became a major hit on both the country and pop charts, making Patsy Cline one of the first country artists to cross over into pop music. She moved to Nashville, Tennessee, became a member of the Grand Ole Opry and then signed with Decca Records where she would record and release many of her future hits. Sadly, Patsy Cline’s life was cut short when she was killed in a plane crash on March 6, 1963 alongside fellow country performers Cowboy Copas, Hawkshaw Hawkins and manager Randy Hughes. She was 30 years old.

At this show you will see and hear 27 of Patsy’s unforgettable hits showcased in the unparalleled way that only theatre can do. But don’t be fooled, Always…Patsy Cline is more than a jukebox musical. It is a heartwarming celebration of friendship, love and unrelenting determination. I can’t think of a better way to spend a couple of hours.
