What’s your deal? Who are you and what’s your story?
I’m a Brooklyn based freelance Set Designer for Live Performance. I love living in the city and creating poetic space.
What most excites you about in taking on this design opportunity at TAM?
I am very pleased to be part of the Roar! season celebrating female creatives.
Why Shakespeare (or classic theatre)?
I love new plays, but the classics are not only incredible telescopes into the past but they also allow for reimagining how we tell old stories, so can become microscopes of the present!
Who is your role model, and why?
I find that there is something to admire and respect about every person I meet. I like to look around and see how each person can be my role model in how they succeed in their own circumstances. This helps me to keep looking for the good and to keep discovering new ways to be.
You can have dinner with any three powerful women in history. Who would you choose and why?
US politics are heavy on my mind at the moment… So here are three first ladies who I deeply admire and respect.
Abigail Adams – I’ve read many of her letters with her husband, John Adams, and she was smart, kind, opinionated and regarded as a peer and respected advisor to and by her husband. In a time when women’s voices were not counted, she still managed to influence the shape of our country.
Eleanor Roosevelt – the source of my favorite quote, “You must do the things you think you cannot do.” I would love to hear how she helped run this country as Franklin Roosevelt declined in health.
Michelle Obama – The epitome of intelligence, strength, kindness and grace.
What is your super power?
I appreciate what this question is trying to do but I’m just a human like all of us. We can’t use super powers to change the world or even change our own path. We have to use our bare hands, our open hearts, and our best minds.
Describe yourself in three alliterative words.
Curious. Creative. Capable.
